The Plan.

  • This Week’s Readings

Per hurricane: what a weird-ass weekend. And even weirder that it wasn’t until I stood listening to a pop-up medieval band at a bar Sunday night that I considered life back to normal. (Oh, Brooklyn.)

In Reading News, I’ve just started Lamb, my first book to review for Full Stop Mag. (Editor Alex was kind enough to drop it off at my place while moving his car to higher ground Saturday. Now that is dedication.)

    As for readings…read on.

MONDAY: Amy Waldman reads from her newest The Submission, about a contest for designing the 9/11 memorial—and what happens when the winner is a Muslim-American.

TUESDAY: Tin House’s Fantastic Women anthology includes 18 weird and surreal tales. Editor Rob Spillman will discuss with contributors Karen Russell (Swamplandia), Samantha Hunt (The Yellow) and Gina Zucker.

WEDNESDAY: Myla Goldberg will discuss her latest The False Friend with Darin Strauss at this paperback release event.

Also, the Believer will celebrate its annual music issue with an evening of hip/obscure musical performances (useful for name-dropping later).

THURSDAY: A New School-sponsored night of poetry featuring Cave Canem poets Duriel Harris, M. Ayodele Heath and Khadijah Queen.

FRIDAY: More poetry! The Pink Pony West Reading Series features Amber Atiya and Ngoma Hill, and will be hosted by Kat Georges.
