  • This Week’s Readings

A (depressing) Packer game, the Golden Globes, dinner with the fab Sammy Davis….this was quite the eventful three-day weekend! Heading back into the workweek, there are some exciting lit events on the horizon, which include tales of tales of rehab and (cubicle) redemption.

But first, I should mention that my fellow lit bloggers Gabrielle (The Contextual Life) and David (Largehearted Boy) have come up with an amazing site that launched today and will provide a listing of readings and lit events. I’ll still be curating my “best of” list from week-to-week, but if you want more options, be sure to take a look.

TUESDAY: Ooh, this looks neat: Booze, Books, and Brownies with the Women of Wenner Media (Former!): Gwen Cooper (Homer’s Odyssey), Kate Rockland (150 Pounds), and Gillian Telling (Dirty Girls). These three women will discuss leaving Rolling Stone to pursue their own book projects. And you really can’t go wrong with the offer of baked goods. [Word Brooklyn]

WEDNESDAY: In the midst of annoying New Years Resolution-ing (and yes, I have enthusiastically partaken), HousingWorks provides a twist on the ol’ theme: “New Year, New You.” Memoirists Alan Kaufman (Drunken Angel), Elizabeth Wurtzel (Prozac Nation), David Carr (In the Night of the Gun) and Mary Karr (Lit) will discuss their former addictions with Susan Shapiro. [Housing Works Bookstore Cafe]

THURSDAY: The prolific Ben Marcus (The Age of Wire) will discuss his newest, The Flame Alphabet. [BookCourt]

FRIDAY: The Nervous Breakdown Literary Experience! Best reading series name ever, right? This month it includes Rachel Kramer Bussel (Best Sex Writing 2012), Greg Olear (Fathermucker), Diana Spechler (Skinny) and Shya Scanlon (Forecast). [KGB Bar]
