This Week’s Readings

HAPPY 2012! I hope everyone’s NYE was as fun as mine (it included Extreme Glass Clinking, so, you know, it was pretty epic). I can feel awesomeness in the air for this year…including a BRAND NEW blog feature I’m uber excited about that I’ll be revealing later this month.
As for readings this week:
TUESDAY: Writer/behavioral scientist Winifred Gallagher will discuss her new book, uh, New: Understanding Our Need for Novelty and Change.
WEDNESDAY: The title pretty much says it all: ”Re)making Media: DIY, Zines, Punk Rock, Gen X and Millennials in the Digital Age.” A whole slew of cool people will be there, including writers (like Blake Nelson, author of Dream School) and musicians (Ian Vanek of Japanther).
THURSDAY: I have two top picks: Annie Leibovitz will be at BookCourt to promote Pilgrimage (a photo book including pix of Emily Dickinson’s dress, Louisa May Alcott’s house and the river where Virginia Woolf drowned herself).
And, former New Yorker Book Bench blogger Leigh Stein will read from her debut novel, The Fallback Plan, and discuss with The Paris Review’s Sadie Stein.
FRIDAY: Who could turn down a Bukowski Tribute Reading? Bring your fave poem and don’t be afraid to leer at the crowd—Bukowski fans love that. Hosted by Kat Georges.
