Hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving! My time in Milwaukee was filled with great food (including beer cheese soup, mmm), beers with hometown friends and a quick trip to Chicago (which also involved…beer).

A little jolting to be back in NYC, but there are some great readings coming up this week: Emily Gould, Salman Rushdie, Paul Auster, Don DeLillo, Charles Shield (who wrote the new Vonnegut biography), Allison Espach and Jim Shepard. Read on for the D’s!

MONDAY: Ex-Gawker girl Emily Gould (whose tale I was admittedly obsessed with for awhile) and Ruth Curry will celebrate the opening of Emily Books—an indie, female-writers-only e-book store.  With special guest poet Eileen Myles. (Do note that initial open bar!)

TUESDAY: There’s a lot going on this night—but I’ve broken it down into two options based on what you’re feelin’:

If you’re looking for a more young/hip vibe, consider the Sackett Street Writers Workshop Reading Series, featuring Alison Espach, Benjamin Hale, Julie Fierro, Heather Aimee O’Neill and Karen Walker Thompson. (Sackett Street is a lauded Brooklyn-based workshop series.)

Or, if you’d prefer to see one of the more established heavweights, Salman Rushdie will be at the Strand, and Don DeLillo and Paul Auster will be at B&N.

WEDNESDAY: Rachel Syme (former NPR books editor) will discuss the buzzy new memoir And So It Goes, about the life of Kurt Vonnegut, with author Charles J. Shields.

THURSDAY: The Pete’s Candy Store Series (which I recently checked out) will host Elissa Schappell (Blueprints for Building Better Girls) and Alison Espach (The Adults).

FRIDAY: Jim Shepard at KGB!
